Arif Şahin was born in Kelkit in 1980. He is a graduate of Selçuk University Fine Arts Faculty Traditional Turkish Arts Department. Şahin started taking khatt classes in 2003, and received thuluth and naskh script licenses from Fevzi Günüç in 2010. He writes his works in thuluth, jali thuluth, naskh and muhaqqaq styles. Şahin, who participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey, continues his diwani and jali diwani studies with Ali Rıza Özcan.
