Aynur Maktal Erbaş was born in 1964 in İstanbul. She was graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Department İllumination (tezhip) Khatt Main Branch. She started master's degree in Marmara University Social Sciences İnstitute. She started to work as a lecturer in the Faculty of Fine arts in Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Department. She finished her master's degree in Marmara University in 1991, she received her certificate for art from Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) in the same year. She appointed as an associate professor to DEU in 1998. She took lessons of rik'a, nesih, ta'lîk styles of khatt from khattat Muhittin Serin, and she studied divani and celi divani styles with Ali Alparslan. She opened seven personal exhibitions in various cities of Turkey. She participated in twenty-eight group exhibitions which are conducted by various foundations. She presented academic reports in many national and foreign symposiums. She participated in biennales, gave seminars. She published papers in journals. She published a book called "Dokuz Eylül University Theology Faculty Collection of Hüsn-i Hat".
