Dürdane Ünver was born in Istanbul in 1948. She is a graduate of Istanbul University Communication Faculty. Ünver received illumination training at Topkapı Palace Workshop in 1976 under the chairmanship of Prof. Süheyl Ünver and studied miniature and katı’ with Gülbün Mesara. She received her license from Prof. A. Süheyl Ünver in 1985, and participated in many personal and group exhibitions since 1978. Her works are in hundreds of collections both at home and abroad; two of them in Abu Dhabi Culture Museum and one in Bosnia Museum. Her album consisting of three miniatures and thirty-two Istanbul tulips is in the collection of Victor Roozen from Netherlands.
She won achievement award in the Environmental Values Turkish Miniature Painting Competition organized in 1991 and second prize in the World Yunus Emre Love Year Turkish Miniature Competition. Ünver was honored with certificates of participation and plaques by various institutions between 1990-2016.
She gained recognition with the studies she carried out with her project group within the scope of 2010 Istanbul European Capital of Culture, and participated in the International Youth Project in the same year with the studies she carried out on headstones. Ünver participated in The Biennale Intenazionale d’Arte Contemporanea di Firenze, organized in Florence-Italy in 2015, with three works; and six of her works were exhibited at DCA in USA in 2016.
She trained students as an instructor at the Turkish Decorative Arts Training Center Katı’ Workshop of TBMM Department of National Palaces between 2004-2010. In her 2006 report, Ünver made katı’ art officially accepted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She gave conferences about katı’ art at many universities and institutions. Ünver continues her project works and training students at MimSanat Academy, and works as a katı’ advisor teacher at Küçükçekmece Municipality Traditional Arts Academy and Sakarya Municipality Traditional Arts Specialization Center.
