Ela Akalın was born in Istanbul in 1976. She is a graduate of Anadolu University Faculty of Business Administration. In 1999, she took miniature classes from Hülya Düzenli. She took marbling classes from Ayla Makas at Caferağa Madrassah between 2002 and 2003, khatt classes from Efdaluddin Kılıç between 2004 and 2005, and miniature classes from Meral Aşan from 2005 to 2006. Between 2008 and 2009, Akalın participated in the katı’ training given by Dürdane Ünver and Müjgan Başköylü at the Classical Turkish Arts Center at Yıldız Palace Şale Kiosk, and she received her license at the end of her training. The works of the artist, who participated in many group exhibitions and projects, won exhibition prize in marbling branch in State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition held in 2011, and in katı’ branch in the State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition held in 2013.
