Fatma Akbey was born in Gölpazarı district of Bilecik in 1960. She took illumination classes from Arife Aktuğ, Serap Bostancı and Muhammed Mağ; attended Ersin Yıldızhan’s katı’ courses and Hasan Türkmen’s pattern design courses at Sefaköy Cultural Center Traditional Arts Academy between 2013-2016. She received her katı’ license from her teacher Ersin Yıldızhan. Akbey won third prize in the Master of the Future Competition organized by Zeytinburnu Municipality in 2015.
