Hülya Görmezoğlu was born in Çayırhisar village of Balıkesir in 1965. She learnt traditional felt making from Recep Agen and from her mother Fatma Akçaçakır. She brought a new insight to traditional felt making with her ecoprint applications. Görmezoğlu, who also received painting training, has many certificates in the field of traditional handicrafts technology. She participated in various exhibitions in Turkey. Some of the students Görmezoğlu trained are Zuhal Tuncer, Emine Keskin and Mübeccel Bolat.
