Born in 1969 in the Tire district of Izmir, Yılmaz started felting by producing felt souvenirs throug felting by hand. He had been interested in felting since childhood and learned the craft by watching felt makers on the street. Producing felt slippers, chair cushions, small carpets, prayer rugs, shawls, ponchos and vests, Yılmaz provided training in his workshop in Tire Yeni Sanayi Sitesi and trained new felt masters. In addition to the workshops, Yılmaz, who also provided employment for housewives and opened a branch in Eminönü, Istanbul, realized that there was a raw material problem in felt and produced felt wool in one hundred and thirty colors. Exhibiting his felt collection in the warehouse he rented in the Karatekke village of Tire and also providing training there, Yılmaz is working on a project to transform his new facility into an art village. Producing felt beds, blankets, pillow sets, shawls, ponchos, slippers, souvenirs, prayer rugs and carpets with felt dryer balls, Yılmaz provides employment to hundreds of people.
