SAKMARLI was born in Adapazarı in 1952, and completed her high school education at Adapazarı High School. She graduated from Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 1974. She worked as an architect until her retirement in 2000. In 2011, she attended the ISMEK patchwork course. Since 2012, she has been working on patchwork together with her teacher Müjden Elmas. She participated in the “Masters of ISMEK” exhibitions, where ISMEK trainees and teachers could take part, with 3 solo works on the themes of “Patchwork with a Cubist Perspective” in 2014; “Doors Opening to the World” in 2015, and “Women’s Reflections from Canvas to Fabric” in 2016. following the ISMEK exhibition, her cubism-themed work was included in the International Patchwork Exhibition held in Seoul, Korea.
