Hüsamettin Yivlik was born in 1947 in Istanbul. He grew up with the Ottoman art tradition between Sultanahmet and Beyazıt. He started working as an officer at Istanbul Health Museum Workshop in 1968. During his duty at there, he gained experience in arts like moulage, gypsum mold, maran eyeglasses, template making, pistole template making, wood carving and ajur (a type of metal cutting) by his own efforts. He left his duty there in 1982 and founded Selçuklu (Seljuq) Workshop, and continued his artistic works there until 1985. He did teimer (timer) repairing and manufacturing between 1985 and 1995, and started working on wood carving, ajur, and engraving. He began manufacturing his own designs on jewelry and ornament die-casting-press in 2001. He is a master in the application of written khatt and drawn illumination on solid materials by maintaining all the details. He has been able to process the finest details with the tools he designed and the methods he developed in khatt engraving. Yivlik continues to improve himself in his art.
