Ülker Erke was born in Istanbul in 1932. She studied at American Girls’ College. Erke gave classes at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical History and Deontology Department Prof. Süheyl Ünver Workshop between 1986-2006. She held twenty-three personal and sixty-three group exhibitions. Erke won Turkey Writers Association Award for the exhibition she held named “World Is Spinning – Exhibition of Mevlevihanes with Miniatures”, and Artist of the Year Award in the Traditional Arts Branch in 2006. She was given more than forty certificates of appreciation and plaques by various institutions. Erke has published works titled “Mevlana and Mevleviyeh with Miniatures”, “Ships in Miniatures”, “Legends from Anatolia with Miniatures”, “World Is Spinning – Mevlevihanes with Miniatures” and “Anatolian Folk Dances with Miniatures”.
Ülker Eke passed away on October 23, 2020.
