Born in 1976, Selimgil graduated from Ege University Emel Akın Vocational School Textile Department in 1998 and Anadolu University Department of Economics in 2016. Selimgil, who worked in planning and purchasing departments in the textile industry for seven years, served as a jury member in the Halk Eğitim Merkezleri Kırkyama Yarışması (Public Education Centers Patchwork Competition) organized by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2012. Selimgil, who continues her PhD program at Dokuz Eylül University, Department of Islamic History and Arts, conducts research and prepares books on the subjects of crochet, sewing techniques and geometric patterns used in Islamic artifacts. Selimgil has two published books and two scientific articles.
