Kurt was born in 1956 in the Ortaköy district of Aksaray, and moved to Kırşehir with his family. As he was influenced by the fact that Kırşehir was the center of onyx production, he took up stonemasonry. He started his profession as an apprentice and rose to the rank of journeyman and later master, and received a master instructor certificate. After practicing stonemasonry for a while as his own business, he started working as a civil servant in 1982 and gave trainings in the workshops he opened in the Prisons and Detention Houses of Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Justice until his retirement in 2007. Kurt, who continues stonemasonry as a hobby in İzmir Torbalı, is married and has four children.
