Ester Eti Koen was born in Istanbul in 1945. She started her handicrafts training in 1990 with the patchwork courses opened by the Turkish-American University Association, given by Linda Robinson. She aspired to transfer her admiration for Ottoman and Turkish motives to her works using cloth, and developed her own technique called "Figure with Cloth”. She worked Ottoman and Islamic motifs, miniatures, historical and cultural textures in her own style. Since 1993, Koen has held many solo exhibitions both at home and abroad, and participated in various group exhibitions.
