Naime Didem Öz was born in Diyarbakır in 1980. She graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSFAU) Traditional Turkish Arts Department. She started working as a research assistant in MSFAU in 2005. Öz completed her mater’s degree in 2006, and her proficiency in art in 2015 and received Assistant Professor title. She learned the techniques of yazma (a type of head scarf) making from Ali Rıza Arda, and has produced new works based on the classical yazmas. Öz participated in over fifty national and international exhibitions. She gave workshops and conferences on yazma making. Her works won exhibitions in Scythia 11 International Biennal Exhibition Competition organized in Ukraine in 2014, and in Scythia Mini Textile Art Exhibition Competition organized in 2015. One of her works was one of the seven works exhibited in Paris Maison & Object Design Competition she took part in 2015. She has presented many papers on yazma making, and her articles has been published in international magazines. Öz was awarded with the Best Contribution to Traditional Arts Award by Karadeniz Technical University for a paper she presented in 2017. She continues her academic and artistic works in MSFAU, where she works as a lecturer.
