Serdil Okumuş was born in Istanbul in 1961. She started taking training in private courses and Public Education Center courses on fields like cloth dyeing, wood painting, weaving, embroidery, jewel and flower design, tel kırma and patchworking. She worked as an instructor at Deft Hands Workshop between 2000 and 2008, and worked as a patchworking and tel kırma instructor within Balıkesir Province Culture and Tourism Directorate after 2009; she has been working at Karesi Deft Hands, Karem Academy and BALMEK since 2015. She participated in exhibition and reception works in Japan in 2014. In 2016, she took part as an instructor in ‘occupational recovery project for woman war victims’ organized in Gjakova region of Kosovo with the collaboration of Karesi Municipality and Yunus Emre Institute. In 2017, she participated in “Karesi Deft Hands Project”, and in exhibitions and promotional works organized in Schwabisch Hall and Duisburg cities of Germany. Her masters are Süheyla Çetin, Sükeyne Tulan, Eti Kohen and Kamil Serin.
