Rukiye Şahin was born in Istanbul in 1974. She started taking illumination classes from Mamure Öz at Sema Workshop in 1991, and continued her studies with Nilüfer Kurfeyz. Şahin illuminated the pages of Prof. Mahmud Kaya’s book titled “Singing Qasidat al-Burda in Turkish” published in 2001, and participated in various exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad. She started taking illumination classes from Ali Rıza Özcan at the Applied Turkish-Islamic Arts Library in 2010, and received her license from Özcan in 2015.
