Dilek Kayır was born in Istanbul in 1978. Kayır studied khatt at the Applied Turkish Islamic Arts Library between 2000 and 2004 and continues studying with Mahmut Şahin. Kayır, who also received training in sculpture from Uğur Taşatan in between 2010 and 2014, attends various group exhibitions and continues to work as a master instructor.
