Ekrem Çoktan was born in Istanbul in 1968. He did his undergraduate studies at Ankara University History Department and his graduate studies at Marmara University History of Turkish-Islamic Arts Department. Çoktan took classes from Cahide Keskiner, Semih İrteş and Mamure Öz; and received his marbling license from Ahmet Çoktan. He held many personal exhibitions both at home and abroad. Çoktan gave Traditional Turkish Arts classes in Japan for two years, and at the University of Cape Town in South Africa for half a year. He continues his studies with Ahmet Çoktan at his workshop.
