Emine Elmas was born in Bulgaria in 1972. She encountered the art of Ebru (Turkish marbling) in 2010 at BUSMEK and participated in BUSMEK group exhibitions during 2010–2011. After receiving two years of Ebru training in Bursa, she founded Elmas Sanat Evi in 2013 and has since continued her artistic practice there; she also took part in Elmas Sanat Evi group exhibitions in 2013, 2014, and 2015. In the same year, she received uninterrupted private instruction for one year from Firdevs Çalkanoğlu. While continuing her work at Elmas Sanat Evi, Elmas undertook two years of private study with İbrahim Sami Özen, from whom she earned her ijazah (certificate of mastery) in the art of Ebru. She participated in three exhibitions titled “From Traditional Art to Modern Art” and four additional group exhibitions with the Bursa Culture and Art Group, as well as one international festival, and took part in the ITB Berlin Fair in Germany in 2016. Elmas held her first solo exhibition entitled “The Touch of Traditional Ebru Art on the Modern World,” accompanied by an Ebru fashion presentation consisting of twenty original works. She also participated in the exhibition “A Look from the Future to the Past,” prepared by İbrahim Sami Özen and his students, in which all materials—from pigments derived from earth to paper made from plants—were produced by the artists themselves. In celebration of Bursa’s designation as a World Cultural Capital, she was among the organizers of the exhibition “Reflections of Turkic World Motifs in Traditional Arts,” prepared by Elmas Sanat Evi and held in May 2022. During the 2017–2018 academic year, she took part in the project “Masters of Turkey: Marmara Region Inventory,” jointly conducted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and the Istanbul Association of Traditional Arts, representing the field of Ebru. In 2019, she was awarded the title of Bearer of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the branch of Ebru by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She participated in exhibition and workshop programs within the Bursa Culture Route Festival in 2024 and 2025, took part in the Ankara International Islamic Arts Fair between 7–11 May 2025 with works in Ebru and handmade paper arts, participated in the Austria Culture and Art Fair in May 2025, and exhibited her works at the exhibition “Echoes of the Future” held in London in November 2025. Honored in 2025 with the titles of Bursa’s First Female Ahi and Ahi of Türkiye, Elmas continues her artistic practice at Elmas Sanat Evi.
