Peyami Gürel was born in Istanbul in 1959. After completing his studies on economics, he did studies at various universities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Gürel has been working on traditional arts since 1979, and has been producing works by making researches on various branches such as khatt, miniature, illumination, marbling, painting. He held personal exhibitions at Taksim Art Gallery in 1996, at Bursa State Fine Arts Gallery in 1997, at Gallery Artist in 2003 and at Cemal Reşit Rey Exhibition Hall in 2008. Gürel continues his studies and trains students at Istanbul Art House, which he founded in 1993.
