Betül Utku was born in Istanbul in 1964. She took oil painting and charcoal drawing classes from painter Tülin Somuncu. She took illuminating classes from Illuminator Nilüfer Kurfeyz and and received training and her license from Khattat Hasan Çelebi. Ayşenur Çiftçi, Reyhan Tever and Ravza Çam are the students she gave license to. The artist currently trains students at Young Academy Erenköy and Altunizade Hasan Çelebi Course.
