Fatma Akyol was born in 1978 in the Şişli district of Istanbul. She graduated from Eyüp Imam Hatip High School and completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration at Anadolu University in 2021. She is currently continuing her education at Atatürk University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Erzurum. She began her journey into Islamic calligraphy (hüsn-i hat) in 2011 under the mentorship of master calligrapher Mustafa Cemil Efe. After completing her training in rika script, she continued her practice in the sülüs and nesih styles within the Şevki Efendi tradition, receiving her diploma (icazet) in 2018. She is currently pursuing advanced studies with her teacher at Zembil Sanat. Fatma Akyol participated in the graduation exhibition titled "Aşk, Meşk, İcazet", held in 2018 at the II. Bayezid Turkish Bath Culture Museum in Istanbul, and continued to exhibit her works in various group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad. In the same year, she took part in an international exhibition organized under the UNIDAY event in Cologne, Germany. Most recently, she presented her works in the 2023–2024 term exhibition organized by Şehir Sanat under Başakşehir Municipality. She continues her teaching and artistic practice as a calligraphy instructor at Şehir Sanat and maintains her studio in Kağıthane, Istanbul.
