Hüseyin Kutlu was born in Konya in 1949. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Letters Department of Philosophy in 1974 and worked as the Directorate of Religious Affairs Eskişehir Mihaliççik Central Preacher between 1968-1972. He worked as the imam-hatip of Hekimoğlu Ali Paşa Mosque between 1976-2002 and retired. Kutlu received his thuluth-naskh license from Hamid Aytaç in 1974 and studied ta’liq with Uğur Derman. He participated in many architectural works both at home and abroad, and gave licenses to eighty-one of his students since 1975. Kutlu, who continues his works at Biksad Art House, gives art seminars and khatt and Ottoman Turkish classes.
