Safiye Bayuk was born in Istanbul in 1976. After completing her primary education, she successfully memorized the Quran. She continued her education in middle and high school, and also studied Islamic sciences such as Sarf, Nahiv, Tafsir, Hadith, and Kalam at a private madrasa. In 2016, she graduated from Sakarya University Faculty of Theology, during which she also studied Ottoman Turkish and Persian. She began her calligraphy training under Master Calligrapher Yusuf Sezer and later studied with Master Ferhat Kurlu. In 2013, she received her certification (ijazah) in Thuluth and Naskh scripts from masters Hasan Çelebi and Ferhat Kurlu at a ceremony organized by IRCICA. She completed her master's degree in 2020 at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University Faculty of Fine Arts with a thesis titled “Calligraphy in 20th Century Ottoman Periodicals” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hüsrev Subaşı. Additionally, she studied Ta'liq script with Calligrapher Ali Toy and Thuluth script with Davut Bektaş. Safiye Bayuk works as an instructor at Salman-ı Farisi Mosque’s Quran Course affiliated with Başakşehir Mufti’s Office and runs her own calligraphy workshop in Başakşehir, Istanbul. She has been involved in calligraphy since 2001, continuing her training with her master Ferhat Kurlu, and mentors her student Ebrar Özmen. In 2024, she participated in the exhibition “Timeless Heritage: The Silk Road,” showcasing her works to art enthusiasts.
