Ümmühan Güner was born in Istanbul and is studying at Marmara University Faculty of Theology. She started illuminated manuscript education with Hatice ALGÜN in 2000. Between 2000-2004, she successfully graduated from the Turkish Ministry of Culture's Traditional Turkish Decorative Arts Course on illuminated manuscript training in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries from distinguished masters like Cahide KESKİNER, Sabiha KOÇ, Asiye OKUMUŞ. In 2005, with Assoc. Dr. Süleyman Berk, she started calligraphy training. She has successfully completed the specialty training program she attended in İSMEK by taking Ottoman education from Talip MERT and studying Basic Art Education with Assoc. Dr. Savaş Çevik. She continued her calligraphy training with Davud BEKTAŞ at the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library in 2010. In 2014, she received the calligraphy authorization from Davud Bektaş by writing Şevki Efendi's Hilye-i Şerif using Muhaqqa, Thuluth and Naskh. The artist, whose works are included in Private and Public Institutions’ Collections, has honorable mentions and degrees from the competitions she participated in, as well as her works published in various magazines and books. Her works have been exhibited in various exhibitions. She is among the authors of the calligraphy textbook, which was prepared by the Ministry of National Education in 2014 for Anatolian Imam Hatip High Schools. She is one of the calligraphers of the Koran, written by female calligraphers for Çamlıca Mosque Museum under the direction of Master Hasan Çelebi. She still continues her calligraphy studies with her master Davud BEKTAŞ at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, at the same time she continues her writing works by using Jeli Diwani with Asst. Prof. Savaş Çevik. The artist, who previously gave calligraphy lessons in various institutions, has been working as a Calligraphy Instructor in Üsküdar Municipality Youth Center since 2012 and continues her workshop works.
