Born in 1974 in the Mengen district of Bolu, Açıköz graduated from Kuşadası Girls Vocational High School. Working as a textile business manager, Açıköz started to produce different designs by combining classical and modern styles in Turkish felting. Working with Mehmet Girgiç and Celalettin Berberoğlu, Açıköz gave a felting course at Kuşadası Public Education Centre in 2016. Açıköz founded the Ege Bölgesi El Sanatlarını Koruma ve Yaşatma Derneği (Aegean Region Handicrafts Protection and Sustenance Association) and participated in various events such as festivals, exhibitions and symposiums in Türkiye and abroad. Açıköz is featured in the book titled Alın Teri, El Emeği, Göz Nuru: Kuşadası'nda Yaşayan Geleneksel Meslekler ve Ustaları published by Ege University Publishing House. She combines precious weavings with felt and carries out national and international studies. Açıköz, who also gives private courses, is a mother of two children.
