Gülyüz Atkovar was born in 1954 in Kırıkkale. She received the title of "Medical Doctor" from the Faculty of Medicine of Istanbul University in 1976 and “Professor” in Radiology Oncology branch from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1996. She received marbling training at Füsun Arıkan Workshop between 2003-2010. She co-founded Workshop HGB with Hilal Civelek and Bedriye Murathanoğlu in 2011. Among the students of the artist, who continues her works in the workshop, are Fulya Erdoğan, Kaan Ülgen and Kadriye Sarıoğlu.
